Craig Finn Tour: Day One

Thanks to everyone who came out last night for our tour kick off show at The Hole in the Wall in Austin. We had a blast and are certainly ready for the umpteen shows we have ahead of us. Y'all hold the fort down while we're gone.
Tonight we're in Dallas at Club Dada. Beau Jennings and the Tigers are opening the show and Mount Moriah, who will be touring with us through Seattle, are direct support. We rehearsed Sarah, I'm Surrounded to the set list. It's an outtake from the record and a sweet jam where I get to play huge whole notes over 6/8. Nerd.
After Craig and Ricky did a radio show at KXT in Dallas, we dumped bags and grubbed across from the club at Casa Brazil. Totally middle of the road club sandwich and a small portion of hashbrown casserole. The hashbrown casserole at Cracker Barrel is better, if that tells you anything. This older lady came up to the table and told Falcon he looks like Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon. Then some weirdo confused one of us with a bartender from a nearby bar and was asking us strange questions. I've been hearing it for a few years now and today I finally saw what everyone has been saying about Deep Ellum. Kind of a sad scene, all these wonderful brick storefronts with for lease signs in the windows. Carcasses of fun times past. Q thinks the neighborhood is "busted." Based on what we saw today, I would agree. Hopefully the nightlife is much more lively. Either way, it'll be a great show. The soundguy Chris made it sound fantastic on stage.
